Employment Advocacy Solutions (EAS) Workplace Relations experts are running one on one Independent Contractor Audit and WorkChoices business mentoring sessions specifically for Queensland and New South Wales independent contractors and businesses (across both metro and regional areas) to explain and help them implement both the new contractor legislation and the employment laws resulting from the WorkChoices Legislation.

One-on-One Independent Contractors Audit Sessions

On 1 March 2007 the new Independent Contractor Legislation came into effect. EAS can explain the changes, as well as providing specific information to help you identify the proper employment or contractor status either in relation to your business, yourself or current “sub-contractors”.

Topics covered in the audit include:

  • How do the new laws apply to you?
  • What is the difference between an independent contractor and/or an employee?
  • Who is excluded?
  • Unfair contractual arrangements.
  • Sham arrangements.

This audit will provide you with clear advice as to the legitimacy of your current arrangements and point to how they can be made compliant, including case studies. These sessions can be used to pose questions that are directly applicable to your business. Such as:

  • What are the main changes?
  • How can I identify an independent contractor?
  • How can I identify an employee?
  • How will State laws apply in this situation?
  • What happens to employee entitlements?
  • How can I protect my business, my directors or myself from being fined?
  • What happens to Worker Compensation arrangements?

The sessions will give employers specific skills, knowledge and practical examples of structuring workplace agreements.
